Jeff Petersen
Jeff Petersen is a talented painter and woodblock artist residing in San Francisco, where he has showcased his artwork in multiple group exhibitions across California. His impressive murals encompass both public art initiatives such as SFAC StreetSmArts and private commissions for establishments like Escape From NY Pizza and Little Chihuahua restaurants. Additionally, he has designed music posters for the legendary Fillmore Auditorium and created editorial illustrations for Devil in the Woods. Merging his passion for surfing and the ocean, Petersen has contributed artwork to magazines including Surfer’s Path, Surfer, and Surfer’s Journal, notably illustrating Drew Kampion’s Lost Coast. He earned his fine art degree from San Francisco State University in 1992.
BIO
ARTIST STATEMENT
I live and work in San Francisco, California with my wife and son. I paint and sculpt. Occasionally I illustrate books, posters and articles in magazines. I also paint murals.
I think mystery and the unknown are undervalued and also inspiring. My interpretations of the world are mostly rooted in nature and it’s also where I find inspiration which I then, express through my art.
